About The Artist - Doug Inga
Culture: Alutiiq/Sugpiaq/Aleut, Unangan Aleut

Doug Inga was born and grew up in Old Harbor, Alaska located on Kodiak Island.  Doug's father was a traditional chief in Old Harbor. His father taught his children all the traditional values of the Alutiiq culture.  He taught Doug the Alutiiq ways and knowledge of understanding the importance of his culture and passing it on to his children.  Doug has been an artist most of his life and he gives the credit to his father and his brother-in-law Jacob Simeonoff Jr., who also taught him wood carving.  Doug also makes beaded head dress and makes jewelry out of ivory and is skilled at making tools for hunting out of stone, wood, grass, animal skins, and metals.
