Alaska Native Arts Foundation's goals are to be art consultants to our customers and stewards to our artists. ANAF brings Alaska Native art to the global marketplace by increasing awareness of the cultural expressions of Alaska's indigenous peoples and stimulate demand for Native works of art. Established in 2002, Alaska Native Arts Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization in Anchorage dedicated to broaden the understanding of, and increase the demand for, Alaska Native art.
ANAF was created from visions that stemmed from artists and leaders with a broad understanding of Alaska’s economic and political landscapes with connections to potential art markets. ANAF serves as a cultural, marketing and economic development resource.
Improve the economic well being of Alaska Native artists; Invigorate education and training of the next generation of Alaska Native artists; Increase awareness of Alaska Native cultures and create opportunities to inform about the diverse cultural expressions of Alaska's indigenous peoples; and Stimulate demand for and help establish fair market pricing for works of art by Alaska Native people.
ANAF represents over 1,100 Alaska Native artists and offers an inventory of over 2,000 unique products online and in the Anchorage retail space and gallery. In less than ten years, the foundation has reinvested a combined value of over one million dollars to support the creation of Alaska Native art for resale. It administers an e-commerce initiative that brings Alaska Native art to the global marketplace and a contemporary gallery.
